It is soul of any learning institution; Information is an essential input to national development. The modern library has great responsibility in harnessing and utilization of information. The library and information centers strive for high quality of library services which emphasis the actual delivery of information rather than actual delivery of documents for meeting their generic as well as specific needs of the users. Library and Information centre, one of the best engineering college libraries in the state. It started its function with a vision to serve the information needs of its users and it mainly holds books related to engineering and allied subjects. The Malla Reddy Engineering College and Technology established its library in the year 2004 the library collection is about 54,000 Volumes. The library amazingly rich collection contains Abstracts, Directories, Yearbooks, and Textbooks, Project Reports and General books including novels. The library is also subscribing for 200+ Technical journals, 20 general magazines and library subscribed full text online database like IEEE, Science direct, ASCE, ASME, Springer, J-GATE- Engineering/Social and Management Science. Comprising of more than 10,000 e-journals, McGraw-Hill e-Books, NPTEL facility (National Programmed on Technology Enhanced Learning) to access video lectures and Membership of DELNET (Inter library loan) for resource sharing. Digital library with 40 systems to access the E-Journals, E-books, CD/DVD’s are available in library. Library & Information Centre provides uncompromising information and intellectual requirements to its students and faculty with a user-friendly approach. It offers a fully integrated and dynamic environment for conducting academic study. Multiple copies ensure that resources are easily available in Reference Section and Sock Section as well. Beside this, it provides Lending of books and journal back volumes, reservation of books, photocopying and CD/DVD and Internet services. It also plans to provide National Digital Library of India facility for huge collection of e-Learning resources with a single window search facility which is being developed at IIT Kharagpur. The Center Library is equipped with NewGenLib Software Package which is an Integrated Library Management System (ILMS) with Barcode Scanner that supports all in- house operations of the library. The Central Library can be accessed through the On-line Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) within the campus premises and outside also. Central Library is Wi-Fi enabled and under CCTV surveillance. For circulation of library books ‘Automated Self Service Kiosk’ is installed in the Central Library which enables users to issue (check-out), return (check-in) and renew books on their own. For each transaction, Kiosk generates a receipt with details of library documents transacted and due dates. A dedicated Library staff serves the students and faculty very enthusiastically.
